Budapest

the bridge connecting Buda and Pest

"Hey, I'm in Budapest!"

There was a soccer game between Hungary and the Netherlands,
and the Dutch's team color is orange. So, there were
people walking around all over the city decked out in orange.

Berlin, Prague, Budapest. What a trip! Each city was unique. The languages too were each quite different, but interestingly, far more people spoke English. The end of the program in Italy is nearing to an end; it's crazy how fast time has flown. My parents and sister visited this past week, and it was amazing to see them. They're currently on their flight back to LA as I type this. We spent the weekend in Tuscany, a region that is strikingly different from Rome. Pictures to come!

Berlin

Brandenburg gate
We went on a great free tour with NewEurope.
We got to see a ton of the major sites,
and the tour guide was really funny/informative.

It was FREEZING (low 30s) on the day we did the tour.
Thankfully, we got a coffee break.

this guy's dreads

We unexpectedly took a trip to Oranienburg and visited Sachsenhausen, a concentration camp. It was intense and pretty emotional. After a certain point, I just really didn't want to be there any more. Walking through a camp where such tremendous suffering occurred was an unforgettable experience.

Work will set you free

This is a picture of the bunks in the Jewish barrack.
The blurriness just makes it even more haunting.

These flowers were painted on the wall in the kitchen by a prisoner of the camp.
Miraculously, the prisoner was not punished and the painting (along with a few others) survived.

Though Sachsenhausen was primarily a work camp, there were still gas chambers.

Sunday was a beautiful day! We went to Mauerpark and walked around the huge flea market.
There was also free public karaoke. Everyone had such great voices.

There was also a great DJ playing house/electro music.
Such a cool day.

After Mauerpark, we stopped by the East Side Gallery,
works of art on pieces of the Berlin Wall.

Naples, Sorrento, and Positano

so many stair cases

such a stunning day

reflection fun

Took a train to Naples and stopped at the pizza restaurant from Eat. Pray. Love., Da Michele. SO YUM.

We then hopped back on the train and headed for Sorrento.  We spent the night in Sorrento and spent the next day in Positano, which is on the Amalfi Coast. What a gorgeous day, we really could not have asked for better weather.  The sun felt amazing. We took off our boots and stuck our feet in the refreshing water of the Mediterranean Sea. A lovely, relaxing weekend...
